Wanna Play? Fitness Video Contest

Entry Forms Due: Friday, February 7, 2014, 5:00 p.m. PST

Method
Submitted electronically via http://groups2.bgca.net/sites/PYDS/SFR/WannaPlay/Pages/2014GuinnessWorldRecordsAttempt.aspx

How It Works
BGCA has received permission to pursue a record for “Most People Exercising to a Fitness Video within 24-Hours at multiple locations.” This means all participants for this record attempt will have to exercise to the SAME fitness video during the 24-hour period record attempt at different venues.  We are giving all BGCA Clubs an opportunity to be in THE fitness video used for this attempt!  Submit your version of a 5 minute fitness video, using content from the WANNA PLAY? program, and your Club will receive a WANNA PLAY? Guinness World Records Attempt Tool Kit.  You’ll also be entered in the contest for a chance to be featured in GWR Fitness Video contest!

To enter the contest, complete the registration form and include:

  • Create your own 5 minute fitness video based on the FriarFit Instant Recess exercise video format (see this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEvF3brYvb4) using exercises and content from the WANNA PLAY? program.
  • Entries must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. PST Friday, February 7, 2014. Winner(s) will be announced on or before Monday, February 24.

Prizes

  • All participating Clubs that submit a video will receive a WANNA PLAY? Record Attempt Tool Kit
  • Finalists will receive a WANNA PLAY? Record Attempt Tool Kit and a $100 Amazon gift card.
  • The Grand Prize Winners will be featured in the WANNA PLAY? FITNESS Video and will receive a WANNA PLAY? Record Attempt Signature Site $1,000 grant!

Contest Guidelines

  1. Create a WANNA PLAY? themed fitness video that’s at least 5 minutes long that’s based on the FriarFit Instant Recess exercise video format (see this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEvF3brYvb4)
  2. You must use exercises and content from the WANNA PLAY? program (for more info go to http://groups2.bgca.net/sites/PYDS/SFR/WannaPlay/Pages/default.aspx or contact Randy Wilkens at rwilkens@bgca.org
  3. You will need to have WANNA PLAY? signage in the video (creativity is a plus), and feel free to use any relationships you may have with your local baseball organizations for players, coaches, and/or mascot appearances in the video.  Again, creativity is a plus!
  4. The video needs to be shot in landscape (horizontal). The shot should have good lighting and still camera work. The best way to achieve a still shot is to place the camera on a steady surface – preferably a tripod – and have it remain stationary during filming. If it cannot be a still shot, please move slowly to capture the best images. It should be at least 5 minutes in length. There can be no after-affects.
  5. Please note that if anyone who is NOT from the Club is featured in the video we will require photo releases.
  6. The video should be submitted in the one of the following file formats:  mov, mpg, m4v, wmv or avi.

Judging Criteria

  • Entries will be judged on:
  • Entry quality
  • Project creativity
  • WANNA PLAY? program messaging
  • Community impact

Tips for a Winning Entry

  • The best entries will have WANNA PLAY? signage, language and content.
  • Think about the theme… healthy lifestyles, good nutrition and fitness through baseball fundamentals.
  • Use what you have! We want to show how our Club youth shine through creativity, ingenuity and enthusiasm.
  • Remember Boys & Girls Club branding. Videos that include youth in Club T-shirts or other visuals that show your Club are not required, but they are a plus.
  • Spelling and grammar count! Remember, the finalist will have a chance to be featured in the national record attempt. So your video may be seen by Clubs worldwide!

Contest Rules

Kids Give Back Contest - Club Submission

Entry Forms Due: Friday, November 15, 2013, 11:59 p.m. PST

Method: Submitted electronically via bgca.net (Email submission allowed by special request only)

How It Works:
The Kids Give Back contest is a great opportunity to showcase how youth in your Club support your community. To enter the contest, complete the registration form and include:

  • One photo that illustrates How do Club kids give back to your community?
  • A 140-character (including spaces) or less caption of your photo.
  • An answer to the question How do Club kids give back to your community? Answers must be 1,000 characters (including spaces) or less.

Entries must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. PT Friday, November 15, 2013. A maximum of 15 finalists will be posted on GreatFutures.org/Give, beginning the week of Nov. 25, through the holiday season. Clubs and the general public will be invited to vote for their favorite entry until 11:59 a.m. PT, Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 (note: 2:59 p.m. ET). The winner will be notified on or before Monday, December 16.

Prizes:

  • 2nd place finalists will receive a surprise gift pack for your Club.
  • The entry with the most votes will receive a grant for your Club!

Contest Guidelines:

  1. Entries must explain how Club youth have given back to the community. Entries may describe a Club event, such as a Torch Club project, or other initiative, but must answer the question “How do kids give back?”
  2. Entries must represent projects that happened during the 2013 calendar year.
  3. Entry photo must be clear and in focus. BGCA prefers high-resolution JPEG images that are landscape rather than portrait (wider rather than taller).

Judging Criteria:
Entries will be judged on:

  • Entry quality
  • Project creativity
  • Community impact

Tips for a Winning Entry:

  • The best entries will tell a story. Share the results of your project.
  • Photos showing action, rather than a group shot, will help tell the story.
  • Think about the theme. We want to know specifically how youth gave back.
  • Use what you have! Did Torch Club or Keystone have a successful service project in March? Submit it! You do not need to conduct a new service project to enter. We want to show how Club youth commit to service throughout the year, so projects from earlier in 2013 are welcome.
  • Remember Boys & Girls Club branding. Photos that include youth in Club T-shirts or other visuals that show your Club are not required, but they are a plus.
  • Spelling and grammar count! Remember, the public will have a chance to read and vote on the finalists, so make sure your entry is the best it can be.

Contest Rules:

  1. Only one entry per Club will be accepted.
  2. Each submission must include a completed entry form, a 140-character (or less) caption and a 1,000-character (or less) response and one photo. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
  3. All submission components must be submitted no later than 11:59 PT Friday, November 15, 2013. If you have trouble submitting your entry, please email causemarketing@bgca.org for assistance.
  4. By participating, you are certifying that your Club has obtained all necessary releases, including but not limited to photo releases, which will allow BGCA and its sponsors to feature the stories and images online and through social media. If you need a photo release form, please contact causemarketing@bgca.org.
  5. By submitting the photo, caption and essay, each Club gives BGCA the exclusive title to and use of the photo. It will be BGCA’s property and can be altered by BGCA’s Creative Services Department.
  6. Club representatives will not be contacted to confirm your submission was received.
  7. Finalists will be notified via e-mail in mid-November. If a finalist does not confirm their participation within 72 hours of notification, that finalist will be disqualified.
  8. Boys & Girls Clubs of America assumes no responsibility for entries lost, stolen, delayed, damaged or misdirected, or for the failure, interruption, technical malfunction or delay of any other communication to be received for any reason.
  9. If you have specific questions or need technical assistance, please contact causemarketing@bgca.org.
