Advancing Underrepresented Youth in STEM During Out-of-School Time:

Today’s young people are digital natives, born into a world where technology is ever-present and their lives are, in many ways, defined through their interactions with computers, handheld devices, social media and video games.

STEM jobs in the United States are expected to grow nearly twice as fast as other fields by 2018. There will be more than 8 million STEM jobs in the U.S. by 2018, but 3 million of them may go unfilled because of lack of people with needed skills. By exposing youth to new technology skills through My.Future, they will be better prepared to pursue a career in a STEM related field.
