The JCPenney Afterschool Fund is sponsoring Boys & Girls Club memberships for youth who are not currently attending after-school programs or are at risk of leaving such programs due to financial difficulties. In 2007, JCPenney Afterschool has contributed more than $2.7 million to Clubs, with $2.5 million taking the form of $300 grants per child for Club memberships.

The JCPenney Afterschool Fund is a partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, YMCA of the USA, Junior Achievement, 4-H and public schools with the Afterschool Alliance, a unique partnership of public, private and nonprofit organizations dedicated to building awareness and expanding resources for after-school programs.
