A native of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Michael S. Regan has dedicated his career to environmental protection and environmental justice. He’s partnered with business leaders, corporations and industry groups to reduce air pollution, improve energy efficiency and address climate change. In 2021, Michael became the first Black man and second person of color to lead the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as its 16th administrator. As EPA administrator, Michael works to deliver historic protections for people and our planet — from setting regulations that cut harmful pollution to overseeing investments in infrastructure so all people can have clean air and water.
