Rick Carlisle is a National Basketball Association (NBA) coach and former player, currently serving as the Indiana Pacers head coach. As a player, Rick was first recruited by the Boston Celtics, helping them win the 1986 championship alongside Larry Bird. He began his NBA coaching career in 1989 and served as head coach of the Detroit Pistons and Dallas Mavericks. Rick has recorded over 800 wins in his NBA coaching career and is one of 11 people to win an NBA championship as a player and a coach. Off the court, he is an avid pianist and private pilot.
