Vice President, Chief Technology Officer
Mat Mathews is the Vice President, Chief Technology Officer for Boys & Girls Clubs of America and leads overall digital and data modernization, product development, business intelligence, technical operations and cybersecurity. Prior to joining the organization in 2018, Mat spent almost two decades proudly supporting the United States National Security Community in counterterrorism, counter-trafficking and cyber-defense. In that role, Mat used his academic specialty in developmental economics to assess the socio-political-economic impacts of colonialism in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia on their Diaspora concerning communal networks, as well as radicalization. As the threat landscape evolved, Mat developed his skillset and credentials in cybersecurity, data privacy, analytics and product development. In addition to his professional duties, Mat serves in Diversity Equity Inclusion (DEI) efforts and is an emeritus member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s DEI Council.
Mat’s family immigrated to Atlanta in 1979, and he is a proud product of DeKalb County Public Schools. In addition to several technical certifications, Mat earned his undergraduate degree from Emory University in Political Science and Economics. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Studies and Diplomacy from the University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies.
