Lenovo Foundation’s commitment to STEM education empowers Club teens with the skills and technology to create brighter futures.
Since 2017, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Lenovo Foundation have partnered to expand science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programming in Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide. From enabling youth to advance their application coding skills through programming available on MyFuture, BGCA’s premier web platform, to training Club staff and supporting efforts to re-engage teen members, our partnership is increasing access to STEM education and cultivating interest in STEM fields.
Lenovo Foundation’s investment of staff time, funding and in-kind donation have helped over 15 Club communities to provide young people with access to safe places, meals and mentorship, while enhancing and sustaining workforce readiness and STEM programming. Lenovo employees have given generously to Clubs through Back2School supply drives, toy drives during the holidays and other engagements throughout the year. Highlighting that STEM is for everyone, Lenovo supported the creation of the App Lab modules on MyFuture that guide youth through the stages of app creation including how to design build and present an app and partner with us to develop a strategy to scale esports and gaming in Clubs.
In 2023, Lenovo Foundation invested in a three- year partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to provide Clubs with the equipment, tools and resources to scale a movement-wide esports strategy in an effort to recruit and retain more teen members, an area of membership that declined drastically as a result of the pandemic. With a 10 Club pilot, Clubs will receive training, coaching and resources for Youth Development Professionals along with funding and equipment to launch or improve their esports and gaming programming.
Corporate partners are coming together to support America’s youth through donations, employee volunteer events, transportation solutions, homework help and more, and encourage the public to do the same.
