“We know what we are, but not what we may be." – William Shakespeare
Dorian has faced a transient childhood familiar to many military youth. From his first training wheels to his first driver’s ed class, one of the greatest constants in Dorian’s life has been Boys & Girls Clubs of America-affiliated Youth Programs found on U.S. military installations worldwide. For more than a decade, Dorian has found a family at his Club.
Spending most of his formative years at the Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, Dorian felt out of his element when he moved to South Carolina as a sixth grader. He thought of himself as an island in a sea of unfamiliar faces. Dorian decided to seek out the familiarity of the Club at his new home, and he discovered a group of teens from everywhere but South Carolina. Dorian had much in common with the other Club members, and adult mentors encouraged him to become a leader. With the encouragement of Club staff, Dorian served as the Southeastern Representative of the U.S. Air Force Teen Council when he was just 14 years old.
Dorian is a rising sophomore at the College of Charleston majoring in communications.
