“There are no limits to how far your voice can go.”
Every young person, like Desha, deserves a safe, positive environment in which to learn and grow.
From the moment she entered her Youth Center, Desha found a second home. In 10 years as a Club member, caring adult staff and essential youth development programs allowed Desha to become the accomplished leader and positive role model she is today. This includes volunteering over 400 hours for community service, 150 hours the past year alone, coordinatng events such as a fundraiser for hurricane victims and a basketball game between local police and Club teens.
Additionally, Desha was elected president of the Keystone Club teen leadership program, served as an ambassador for the SMART Girls life skills program, and worked as a facilitator for the Club’s STEM Center of Innovation. Desha is a freshman at Bowie State University and plans to become a rehabilitation psychiatrist.
